ttc result 2011

ttc result 2011 Home dates for the Wenatchee Wild — the arena’s flagship tenant — as well as a lack of court space have combined to knock Town Toyota Center out of the minds of WIAA administrators as a potential host for both state basketball and state volleyball. “For basketball, we can’t fit two 94-foot courts. The WIAA would have to agree to 84-foot courts for us, which they haven’t been willing to do,” said Town Toyota Center manager Mark Miller. “For volleyball, we have been involved in the bidding process, but we just don’t have the dates available. The Wild hockey team is tying up those dates.” In 2005 — before the arena was constructed and before funding was secured.

— city officials and developers held up the possibility of Wenatchee attracting state tournaments as a reason to commit to the facility. WIAA executive director Mike Colbrese confirmed to The World last week that the TTC has thrown its hat in the ring to host state volleyball tournaments, which were held this past year from Nov. 11-13 in Kennewick (Class 2A, 3A, 4A) and Yakima (Class 1B, 2B, 1A). Colbrese acknowledged that the Wild’s schedule, which runs from September to March, was a sticking point. “We were aware that the conflict with dates in the fall stemmed from their commitment to the hockey team,” he said. While the WIAA has never had a formal discussion about shrinking the size of the courts to accommodate playing state basketball at the arena, it isn’t likely that the organization would do so, Colbrese said. “If it came down to it, we would go with facility with the longer court,” he said.
