ApsThe district attorney's office is investigating a possible case of child abuse that left local parents shocked. Click Like For New Mexico News Updates: The Albuquerque Public Schools said a contracted school bus driver and an educational assistant, both women, blindfolded and tied down two students with special needs while riding the bus last May 3.APS parent Albert Duran said his three kids ride the bus to and from school, and he puts lot of faith in those bus drivers."When kids get on the bus, you take it that (the bus drivers) will take care of your kids as if they're their own," Duran said.

They're kids."According to a report from APS, a Herrera bus driver and her aide tied down a student from Chaparral Elementary School and another from Jon Adams Middle School because the students "had a bad day and were misbehaving at school."APS said a medical assistant at the school witnessed the alleged abuse and reported it. According to the report, the aide tried to get the medical assistant to cover things up with a text message that said, "Tell them you know nothing. We will tell you later."A district attorney spokeswoman said they are still investigating to see if the women should be charged with child abuse.APS said it has turned over the investigation to Albuquerque police because the district's police department cannot charge people.Herrera Bus Company officials declined to comment, saying they will have to wait until Tuesday to find out anything after the Special Needs Department gets back in.
