gtuThe Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has won the best jury award in the category of Best Interface Between Academia and Industry at the World Education Summit 2011 in New Delhi for its GTU Innovation Council project. The event was organised by IGNOU in association with the Centre for Science Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) and Elets Technomedia. The co-organisers were All India Council for Technical Education, Department of IT (Ministry of Communication and IT), Government of India, National e-Governance Plan and others. GTU Vice-Chancellor Akshai Aggarwal said the innovation council was designed to focus on establishing close linkages between industries and businesses, and students and faculty members in all GTU programmes like engineering, management, pharmacy and MCA, to make research and development at the university relevant to the needs of the industries in Gujarat and also at national and international levels.
