joan of arc

Religious statues of St. Joan of Arc and the Virgin Mary were vandalized at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Evesham, N.J. earlier this month, phillyBurbs.com reports. The vandal also damaged statues at St. John Neumann Church in Mount Laurel, as well as four other Catholic churches in Cherry Hill. The vandal broke the noses, fingers and hands on the statues and caused more than $30,000 in damage to at least 40 statues. “I guess you have to feel a little bit sorry for the person doing it,” Fred Schank, a parishioner at St. Joan of Arc, told the website. “You have to feel some compassion for that individual.” “I don’t know what kind of person does this. It’s just tough to figure out why someone would do this,” Schank said. According to phillyBurbs.com, authorities have yet to apprehend the vandal even though the Cherry Hill Courier Post reported last week that police may have a break in the investigation.
