malaysia vs chelsea july 2011PETALING JAYA, July 20 (Bernama) -- It was a lifetime experience for 15 selected students when they were treated to a special football clinic with the Chelsea Football Club at the Chelsea Blue Pitch in Damansara Damai here today.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tengku Azmil Zahruddin said the clinic was a special treat for the students under the Project Pintar.

He said the programme was a collaborative social responsibility initiative by the Government Linked Company (GLC) and private corporations in Malaysia to foster academic excellence, particularly for the underprivileged and underserved students, nationwide.

"We ensure that the students sponsored by us in the Project Pintar are given exclusive opportunities such as this event.

"We also try to expose the children positively to enable them to gain confidence which will be an asset to them," he said in a statement here today.

Apart from attending the clinic, the students were also given tickets to watch the match between Chelsea and Malaysia tomorrow at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The atmosphere at the clinic was filled with excitement as the students cheered during the arrival of the Chelsea team.

The students were hosted by Malaysia Airlines on a 3-day 2-night trip to attend the football clinic, to watch the match and to attend a motivational seminar tailored for them.

Malaysia Airlines has been an active member of the Project Pintar since 2007.
