Ngee ann poly

Ngee ann polyThis year's National Day celebrations will feature a four-and-a-half-minute dance routine, which was unveiled at ION Orchard yesterday by some 200 dancers, including People's Association (PA) chief executive Yam Ah Mee.The dancers came from the PA, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore and Siglap Secondary School. Said Mr Yam: 'The youth were teaching me the dance steps and I did my best to keep up with them.' The dance, named Step Up Singapore, is choreographed by dance instructor Patrick Loo.

Meanwhile, the National Day Parade (NDP) organisers will be removing the lyrics of the Fun Pack Song - a rip-off of Lady Gaga's hit Bad Romance - from the NDP song booklet to avoid copyright infringement. The organisers had earlier scrapped plans to perform the song at the parade.

The video of a performance of the song at an NDP rehearsal has also been taken off YouTube.

The NDP show committee told MediaCorp that they will be taking out the offending page before the next rehearsal this Saturday. The printing of the booklets for the NDP preview and the actual parade was stopped in time and they will not contain the lyrics of the song. EVELYN CHOO AND HOE YEEN NIE, Photo: Ernest Chua
