Tiger woodstelevised on The Golf Channel at 11:00am EST. Rumors are already flying as to what Woods will "announce", but since he has only invited his "friends in the media" to the presser, it wil likely be something relatively interesting. According to Yahoo! Sport's Shane Bacon, here are a few possible "announcement" topics Tiger will cover this morning: -- Tiger won't play golf for the rest of 2011. This one seems like the most likely because if Tiger is still hurting, and really wants to get 100 percent, he might need more time away from the game. -- Tiger needs to have surgery to fix his knee/Achilles.
Tiger might comment on his relationship with Anthony Galea, maybe just to clear the air after Galea was indicted last week on counts of transporting illegal drugs across the border for a number of athletes. -- Tiger might be giving us an idea of when he will return to golf. In my opinion, this all seems rather "LeBron - like" in terms of garnishing some attention away from the British Open, which is poor form by Tiger. We already know he's not playing in the Open; why hold another press conference to tell us the same thing? EDIT: As of 9:45am EST, Woods' agent is now stating that no announcement will be made today. In fact, the original Golf Channel tweet "announcing" the press conference has also been removed.
